Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Squamish RMT

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Aimee has been trained with the Dr Vodder Method of Manual Lymph Drainage. This is a gentle, non-invasive rhythmic massage technique that can have profound effects throughout the body. It is a  completely different type of massage therapy in comparison to Swedish or deep tissue massage and has the main goal of working specifically on the lymphatic system.  It uses a gentle sequencing technique that follows the direction of lymph flow back to the heart. The rhythmic pumping technique  has a calming and relaxing effect on the nervous system. MLD reduces excess fluid from swelling and /or inflammation in the body. It can also be used to remove wastes from the body, used as a method of detoxification, and to help strengthen the immune system.

MLD is an effective treatment for the following conditions :

β€’  Lymphedema

β€’  Post surgical: Hip and knee replacements, Ligament repairs, Plastic surgery

β€’  Wounds, Burns, Scars

β€’  Acute injuries: Sprained ligaments, Muscle strains, Contusions

β€’  Chronic venous insufficiency

β€’  Osteoarthritis

β€’  Post Fracture Edema

β€’  Concussions & Acute Whiplash

β€’  Migraines

β€’  Sinusitis

β€’  Tinnitus, Meniere’s disease

β€’  Multiple Sclerosis

β€’  Pregnancy edema

What is Lymphedema

Lymphedema is the accumulation of fluid in the interstitial space between the tissue cells of the body. It can occur from the removal of one or more lymph nodes following surgery, or from damage to the lymph system from injury or inflammation. Lymphedema is a serious condition that can occur in the arms, legs, head, neck, or torso.
